Julia Restoin Roitfeld Is a New Mother!

Congratulations are in order for Julia Restoin Roitfeld, the newest mother in the fashion industry.

Derek Blasberg tweeted that Julia gave birth to her child today but offered no details about the child’s gender or name. “Congratulations to proud Momma @RestoinRJulia! (And thus, the chicest grannie ever: Carine Roitfeld!)” he wrote. “Can’t wait to meet the beautiful baby!”

The new son or daughter will no doubt be beautiful: Julia once modeled for Lancome and recently posed for the Summer 2012 cover of i-D magazine. The baby’s father is Swedish model Robert Konjic, who has been dating Julia for the past few years.

And while Julia’s mother, Carine, is surely proud of the new addition to her family, she’s already decided that she doesn’t want to be called “grandmother.” When her daughter announced that she was pregnant last November, Carine said, “I will be called ‘Madame.’”

A Sneak Peek at Alber Elbaz’s Lanvin Book

What better way to celebrate Alber Elbaz‘s 10 years designing for Lanvin than with a gilded coffee-table book?

This month, Steidl will publish Alber Elbaz – Lanvin, a $450 tome filled with quotations from Elbaz and some 400 behind-the-scenes images – shot by photographer But-Sou Lai – of the work he does there.

“When the whole industry is about the six minutes of the show and a review that is being written in a taxi because then there is the next one, I thought, I’m going to show everyone how much effort goes into making a single dress,” he told The Independent. “I wanted to show how many threads you have to put together to make one rose; how much thought goes into a button. I wanted to show a shoe in the factory in Italy being held like a baby by an old man and then attached to a machine as if it was going to the dentist.”

Elbaz went on to say that he values craft more than fame – something that shows both in his collections and in his book. Take a glimpse of its pages here, in the gallery.

Gisele Bundchen Covers Vogue Paris’s Health Initiative Issue

A topless, slightly sand-covered Gisele Bundchen is the star of Vogue Paris‘s June issue, the first edition of the magazine that follows the publication’s worldwide Health Initiative.

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot the image. Readers will find stories about targeted exercise, nutrition, and an exclusive interview with Bundchen about how she keeps in shape in the magazine’s features section. The issue will hit newsstands on May 24.

All 19 editions of Vogue agreed to start following a set of guidelines that will promote a healthier body image in the pages of its magazines. Like Vogue Paris and American Vogue – which yesterday debuted a cover featuring three Olympic athletes – most editions of the magazine will dedicate their June issues to the topic of health. Vogue Japan’s health issue will follow in July.
